When to visit Terracina
The ancient centre and the Temple are enjoyable all year round, but spring and early autumn remain the best times. July and August are the months of full beaches and Ponza crossings, with the most frequent sailings at the weekend.

How to reach Terracina
Terracina is an easy town to reach. By car you arrive along the SS148 Pontina, the road linking Rome and Latina to the coast: the handiest choice if you then want to tour the Riviera of Ulysses and the villages around. In summer, though, the seafront fills up and parking near the ancient centre gets scarce.
If you prefer not to drive there are trains and coaches: the town is served by regional lines and by direct bus connections from the main towns of Lazio. From Rome, though, it means juggling timetables and connections.
And then there is the sea. From the harbour of Terracina the operator NLG sails to Ponza, the largest of the Pontine Islands: you leave in the morning and return the same day, with extra sailings from Friday to Sunday. The harbour is inside the town, a short walk from the seafront.
