Arrival in Amalfi

Whatever mode of transport you choose to reach Amalfi, you will always be welcomed by Flavio Gioia Square, the central hub from which to officially start your day in this stunning town.

That said, I can’t help but suggest arriving by sea, not only because Amalfi is a coastal town, but also because it is the most romantic way to get there.

Start your day with a leisurely walk, hand in hand, along Amalfi’s seafront, admiring the marina and the colorful houses perched above the sea.

Walking past the Arsenale, the only remaining medieval shipyard in Italy and a symbol of Amalfi’s maritime power, you’ll arrive at Porta della Marina. Pause here for a moment, if you look up, you’ll see the Pannello Rossi, a ceramic panel on the exterior wall illustrating the territorial and commercial expansion of the Amalfi Republic at its peak.

Continue along Via Mansone, and soon you’ll reach Piazza Duomo, home to the Fountain of St. Andrew the Apostle on one side and the Duomo di Sant’Andrea on the other, dedicated to the city’s patron saint.

Now, take a deep breath—you’ll likely be awestruck by the majestic staircase leading to the cathedral. Don’t be intimidated—climb those steps! Once at the top, take a moment to admire the stunning Baroque façade, a true architectural masterpiece.

After visiting the Duomo, don’t miss another breathtaking site located just behind you: the Cloister of Paradise. This ancient cloister, with its lush garden and Moorish-style columns, is a haven of peace and serenity, a perfect setting for a romantic pause. 

The day goes on

As you descend the stairs, make sure to stop by the artisan shops for a bit of shopping. But don’t get too lost wandering through the historic center, browsing stores filled with handmade ceramics, limoncello, and other local specialties, there’s still so much more to experience!

The morning has been eventful, it’s time to take a break! And what could be better than lunch at a seaside restaurant, perhaps in the harbor area, offering an exclusive and breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast? It’s the perfect setting to enjoy an outdoor meal while soaking in the spectacular panorama.

After lunch, set sail for an afternoon on the water. From Amalfi’s port, you can embark on a private "coast by coast" boat tour, exploring the coastline from a whole new perspective. Admire hidden coves, sea caves, and picturesque villages that line the coast.

One last thing before leaving

Upon returning, spend some time unwinding on Marina Grande Beach, Amalfi’s main beach. Take advantage of the available services to freshen up and prepare for the evening.

Why not start the night with a romantic aperitif at a bar with a panoramic terrace, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the horizon?
