Amalfi on the Amalfi Coast: Cathedral, Sea Views and Ferry Connections

Who doesn’t know Amalfi and the Amalfi Coast, a place shaped by history and embraced by breathtaking beauty?

Since 1997, the entire Amalfi Coast has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrating its unique cultural landscape, historic towns, and dramatic coastline.

To the question, “Why choose Amalfi?”

I will try to answer by trying to describe Amalfi to you. What does Amalfi have?

@Ferry S.r.l.

Ancient origins: a maritime history born from legend and shaped by centuries as a powerful sea republic.

Mighty sea, Deep blue waters that define the town’s rhythm and open endless horizons.

A love for good cuisine, for simple, authentic flavors rooted in coastal traditions.

Lemon groves and orchards spread across the typical terraces

Felicity of a unique experience that leaves a beautiful and profound memory

Immersed in nature, still wild in places, taking your breath away

When to visit Amalfi

Spring is definitely one of the best times to visit Amalfi and the Amalfi Coast.
Here’s why:

  • Ideal temperatures: Neither too hot nor too cold, spring temperatures allow you to explore the coast without suffering from excessive heat.
  • Blooming season: Spring transforms the Amalfi Coast into a burst of colors, with bougainvillea decorating houses and gardens.
  • Fewer crowds: Compared to the summer months, there are fewer tourists, making it easier to find spots on the beaches and in restaurants.
  • Events: During this time, many traditional festivals and events take place, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture

Summer brings lively energy and long days by the sea, while autumn offers warm light and a calmer atmosphere.

How to reach Amalfi

Amalfi can be reached by car, bus, and, most beautifully, by ferry.

Whether you arrive by plane or train in Naples or Salerno, you can continue to Amalfi by bus, rental car, private transfer, or sea connection.

From Naples Central Station, you can take the Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento and then continue to Amalfi by SITA bus. Bus journeys along the coast take about 1 hour and 15 minutes and are very affordable, though traffic can slow travel in high season.

A true Rider, however, chooses the option that is both fast and scenic.

Traveling by sea is often the most enjoyable way to reach Amalfi, for example by taking a direct hydrofoil from Molo Concordia in Salerno, offering panoramic views of the coastline and a relaxed arrival in the heart of town.
