Praiano: between sky, sea, and unforgettable sunsets

Praiano is one of the most peaceful and panoramic gems of the Amalfi Coast. Perched between Positano and Amalfi, the village stretches across terraced hillsides, flowered alleys, and spectacular sea views.
Far from mass tourism, it preserves its traditional charm: life here flows slowly, in sync with the setting sun over the water. Whitewashed houses, colorful tiled domes, and stairways linking the upper districts to the sea make Praiano an authentic place, ideal for those seeking beauty, intimacy, and quiet.

What to see in Praiano: sea views, sacred art, and timeless sunsets

Among the main sights is the Church of San Gennaro, with its iconic multicolored tiled dome overlooking a scenic square.
The Torre a Mare, an ancient watchtower, stands above Marina di Praia and tells of the village’s maritime past.
The Church of San Luca Evangelista is also worth a visit, home to valuable 16th- and 17th-century paintings.
Another highlight is the Convent of San Domenico, perched above the village and accessible via a panoramic trail. In summer, it becomes a magical venue for open-air concerts, blending music, history, and stunning views.
But the true wonder of Praiano is its landscape: breathtaking views of Capri’s Faraglioni, Positano, and the Li Galli islands unfold from nearly every corner.

Praiano: between sea, hiking, and culinary tradition

Praiano is the perfect destination for those who love clear waters, unspoiled nature, and authentic local flavors. Marina di Praia, a small beach nestled between cliffs, is ideal for relaxing or dining right by the sea.
More peaceful and scenic is Gavitella Beach, one of the few spots on the Amalfi Coast that enjoys sunshine until sunset.
For hiking enthusiasts, the famous Path of the Gods begins in Praiano and climbs to Nocelle, offering breathtaking views along the way.
The local cuisine features simple, flavorful dishes like the traditional totani e patate alla praianese, a fragrant dish, where squid and potatoes are sautéed in a pan with garlic, olive oil, and parsley, and fragrant desserts such as the famous delizia al limone.
Family-run bakeries and small restaurants add warmth and authenticity to every dining experience.
